Wedding flowers

Brooke ♥ Tom

The wedding season started early in 2015 with Zing Flowers first wedding held 9 days into the New Year at the Merewether Surfhouse.  Ceiling to floor windows lined two walls of the Surfhouse and the view of the beach was ama{zing}.  It would be the envy of many a bride in Sydney searching for her perfect venue!

Brooke and Tom are a chilled couple and wanted a wedding that was informal with a rustic-vintage theme.  Brooke is a fan of baby’s breath and wanted a few arrangements just using baby’s breath with the remainder a mix of seasonal flowers. Jars, candles, lace doilies and rose petals were the order of the day with a pink, cream and white colour palate.

The arrangements were unstructured using different combinations of hydrangea, dahlia, garden roses, lisianthus, hypericum berries, cosmos, baby’s breath, cineraria and carnations, and the end result was gorgeous.  I’m still dreaming about the fabulous spotted hydrangea that we used!

Mel ♥ Mitch

It is always a lovely surprise to hear from a bride many months after her wedding.  A few weeks ago I received an email and photos from one of my gorgeous brides, Mel.

Mel wanted colourful (focusing on pink and yellow), eclectic, vintage, hippy flowers and was happy to leave all the decisions on flowers, style etc to me.  After meeting Mel and talking about her wedding over a glass of wine, I knew she would love arrangements that were a little different and I would be able to be more creative than usual.  I was excited!

I wanted to use seasonal flowers and with a rough plan, I left most of the decision-making to the morning of my market run.

I used different varieties of roses, carnations (small and large), succulents, coriander, dahlias, celosia, seaholly, echinacea, lisianthus, amaranthus, anemone buds, different varieties of chrysanthemums, daisies and a large variety of foliage.  Every arrangement, including the bouquets, were different and I had a ball creating them!

“The flowers were amazing, you did the best job! My Mum keeps saying they’re the best flowers she’s ever seen. I loved my flower crown, it smelt amazing and I had beautiful rose perfume wafting around all night. They lasted for ages after and before we left I pulled all the petals off the roses and they dried nicely. Loved the flowers you chose for the grass – have the best photo of Mitch sprinkling them.

Thanks for everything you did, you were amazing :)”

Eclectic, soft and romantic. White, creams, blush (to match the bridesmaid’s dress) with a touch of red.  Small handheld arrangements that look like they have been picked from the garden with a variety of different flowers.  Definitely NO roses!
